J'admire votre courage! J'admire votre amour pour la verité, qui a été assez grand pour avoir osé braver l'opinion publique en mélant votre nom à la cause "ridicule" du Spiritualisme!

Que celle cause pourtant n'est pas aussi ridicule qu'on s'efforce de la faire paraitre, j'en ai la preuve dans le fait que votre brochure "The Scientific aspect of the Supernatural"¹ est épuisée (out of print!) Et voila le motif que me pousse de m'adresser directement à vous. Tous mes efforts pour me procurer cette brochure ont été ,pendant un an a demi, infructueux, et j'ai prissuis sur moi la liberté de faire encore un essai en vous [2] priant personellement de vouloir bien avoir l’extreme bonté de me remettre un exemplaire du dit ouvrage par l’intermediaire de M. Burns.²En ce moment je suis à compiler un livre, qui aura pour titre "Le Spiritualisme devant la Science",³ et voila pourquoi il n'est absolument indispensible de posseder votre brochure. Et si vraiment elle est introuvable, pourquoi ne la ferez vous pas reimprimer pour le bien de la cause publique?

Outre celle j'ai encore plusieurs prieres à vous adresser: 1.) Ne pourriez vous pas me communiquer une liste de vos principaux ouvrages et articles dans differentes revues? 2.) Où pourrai-je trouver une notice biographique sur votre personne et les principaux articles de la presse emis au sujet de vos travaux lltteraires et scientifiques? [3] 3.) Quel accueil a été fait à la dite brochure par M[essieu]rs. vos collegues - les naturalistes?

Si vous aviez la complaisance de me donner ces renseignements vous m'obligeriez infiniment: Inutile de dire quel je lis l'anglais tout aussi bien que le français.

Dear Sir,I admire your courage! I admire that you  love truth to the extent that you have dared to brave public opinion in lending your name to the "ridiculous" cause of Spiritualism!I have proof that the cause is not as ridiculous as it is forcibly made to appear in that your brochure "The Scientific aspect of the Supernatural"¹is out of print! And herein lies the reason which compels me to write directly to you.  For the last year and a half all my efforts to try to procure this brochure have been fruitless, and I have taken the liberty of trying once more [2] by asking you to have the great kindness to send me a copy of the work through the intermediary of M. Burns.²  At the moment I am compiling a book the title of which will be "Spiritualism in the face of Science"³, and this is why it is absolutely necessary for me to have your brochure.  And if it really cannot be found, why do you not have it reprinted in the interest of the public good?I have other requests to make as well as this one. 1) Could you please send me a list of your principle works and articles in various journals? 2) Where could I find a biographical piece about you and the principle articles in the press on your literary and scientific work?
