W. E. Gladstone was at Bournemouth from February to 22 March 1898 when he returned to Hawarden.

Helen Gladstone (1849-1925). She was the youngest daughter of W. E. Gladstone and acted as his secretary. She would also later become Vice-President of Newnham College at the University of Cambridge.
