My Dear Sir,
I take the liberty of writing to ask you whether it wd. be agreeable to you to write for the Fortnightly Review1 on Mr. Darwin's forthcoming work.2 I should value such an article extremely highly.
We should ask you to take a guinea and half per page — an inadequate fee enough, I admit.
It wd. give me very great satisfaction, if you cd. accede to my proposal; and in any case I hope you will forgive me for intruding upon you.
Believe me, dear Sir, | Yours very truly, John Morley.3 [signature]
