Dear Mr Wallace:
I have written to Mr. Surriburne[?], of Teddington, asking him if he can find a place in their works for your son, who will, I think, call there this afternoon.
Every year it becomes more difficult to find places [2] for our students, for those works' managers who take in pupils at big premiums, cannot, however willing, admit without premium a young fellow, however well trined, without creating great jealousies. However, if your son exists himself to find a birth, he will succeed; and I will do what I can to help him.
Believe me, | Ever yours sincerely, | Silvs P. Thompson [signature]
