Dear Sir,
An ethical movement based on the doctrine of evolution being just about to rise in Germany[,] I should like very much to draw public attention to an essay of yours, published in the Arena2 of January 1892. "Human Progress past and present"3. Would [2] you be kind enough to give me permission of translating [sic] it into German? I am German by birth and although being Lecturer in a British University I am in close connection with the mental life of Germany. I know, many of my fellow countrymen will be very much interested in the subjects3 of the named essay of yours, if they only have [an] opportunity of being acquainted with it.
I should be very much obliged to you for an answer.
Yours truly | Alexander Tille [signature] Ph. D.
