Dear Doctor Wallace,

With a house full of bricksetters, plasterers, & a play & a book on my own hands, I am unable to approach the consideration of your very curious & interesting phrenological "delineation" with the attention it deserves. But the merest glance suffices to show the extraordinary general accuracy of the chart : if it is quite certain that the phrenologist knew nothing of Blatchford2 nor of his work, the his inferences are certainly very remarkable. But I am surprised he said nothing about Hungnoms[?] combativeness & truenlence : I have heard Blatchford wisely say that if he were not continually sitting on his more pronounced proclivities, he would be a literary prizefighter. He is a post without a doubt, but like Raleigh & Surrey[?] he is more happy with the battle axe than the lute.

As to your book, I have not seen it, nor has anyone in the office any knowledge of it. Are you sure it was sent?

Thanks for sending me the chart. Some day perhaps with your permission I may print it.

Kind regards | Sincerely | Alex. M. Thompson3[signature]
