In consideration of my previous note,² & with reference to your kind reply³ of 1^st May, I enclose the report of Meeting at which an Indian Famine Union was constructed.

In accordance with [2] the 4^th resolution the enclosed memorial was preferred by the Committee, & we hope to have it influentally signed. I quite understand your reasons for not joining our Union, but we are obtaining the signatures [3] of others besides members of our Union. Perhaps therefore you will kindly allow me to add your name as a signatory? We attach great importance to this detailed enquiry into local conditions.
