Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for your kind letter it has confirmed my opinion of Lewis Ford. I will get notes from the references you so kindly give[sic] one & be in a position to reply very definitely to him in future. Yes, I know Lady Anne Blunt was a Flat Earthite (I think ‘Flat’ is rather apropos of the society) Ford has quoted her many times as an authority for his (mis) statements & wanted to send me her writings, but I have little time for reading nonsense, & had he not most unjustly attacked those for whom I have great admiration I should not have been drawn into the correspondence & I feel rather grieved that I have unintentionally rake up an old worry, which you had gladly almost forgotten.
Many thanks for your little Booklet — I am very interested in the Socialist problem, but I cannot go as far as you do — nor do I believe it possible for England to live peaceably under such conditions, until the moral standard of human nature is very much raised — & this you cannot do by act of Parliament.
Yours faithfully | Alfred Stradling [signature]
