Dear Dr Wallace,

I should have written to you at once for your most kind & generous note; but was in the midst of a rush myself. I can only assure you that I not only feel most deeply [2] grateful but highly honoured by your very kind suggestion, that I might call & have a chat with you about our beloved "Tanah Melayu" or "Malay Land", when as soon as I am fortunate enough to find myself in your part of the country. It makes me wish I had a "praying-carpet", but with or without I shall certainly hope to be able to pay you a visit before long.

Believe me, | yours most gratefully, | WW Skeat [signature]
