Dear Sir

As the daughter of the late William Paddison I offer you my hearty congratulations on the attainment of your 88th birthday.

Perhaps I had better first remind you that you knew my Father as a young man when you lived for some time to-gether in the Vale y neath. my dear father has been dead [2] fiveteen [sic] years being then 71, but up to the time of his death he often spoke of you to us, and always seemed so proud when he saw your name printed[?] in the papers. my brothers and I are so glad to see your likeness in the Daily News3 yesterday, I only wish my dear father was alive too.

I have read carefully all the acc[oun]t in[?] yesterdays daily news [3] wishing you many more birthdays[.]

Believe me | Yours respectfully and admirably | Alice Margaret Paddison4 [signature]
