My dear Sir

The photograph of the drawing has arrived but I am afraid I cannot see in it any evidence of the influence of Raffaelle2 on the artist who produced it. On the contrary I think it shows an obvious bias towards the art of ancient Greece or Rome and that the artist must have especially studied "the antique" during many previous years of training and practice.

In that in my opinion it represents a characteristic work of the classic revival period in France (of the revolutionary & Napoleonic epoch) [2] I return it herewith.
