Dr. Alfred R. Wallace

My dear Sir,

May I take a few valuable moments, to express to you the deep gratitude several are feeling on reading the "Interviews" in "Daily News of today"[.]

A clergyman friend [2] who is a fellow scholar of repute Rev[erend]. J. G. Wilson M.A. and who is truly an "Other World" gentle man has just said "Now I can go on with tomorrow's sermon with a brave heart Dr. Wallace has laid my tempest for nie[?]"

And a Sunday School [3]4 Minister has also said "Some of us were saying how dark things were looking for us just now — this dreadful "Origin of Life &c" — and now this morning my son says "It takes a soldier to conquer a soldier — now Dr. Wallace has come we can cease our mourning."

Sincerely hoping the inclement season[?] has [4] not affected your health dear sir[.]

Believe me | I am gratefully and respectfully yours | Sarah A. Bennett [signature]5
