Parkstone.

Oct 25th. [18]91/

My dear Violet

I shall be at Aunt Fanny’s1 on Thursday night as I have some work to do in London, & shall be very busy. On Friday evening I shall be engaged till late. Perhaps Mr. Jonck will be at Lillie Road so if you can come to tea there on Thursday evening, you will see me & him. Six O’clock is the time I think. Please bring with you a ticket for the Botanical Gardens, one of Mr. Mivart’s2 — as if I can [2] manage to find time I should like to go.

I hope you have got the two Zool[ogical]. Atlases, and that they will be useful. Prof Lloyd-Morgan3 is writing a Children’s book about animals which will be very amusing. I have seen one of the proofs, and it will be just the thing for lessons to kids.

The weather recalls the pleasant days of Noah (when they were shut up in the Ark with all the beasts in the world and one small window.)

[3] In case you have not seen it I enclose an essay which will enlighten you on some of the problems of physiology.

Your affectionate Papa | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
