Dear M. Cockerell1

I have at last found the date of burial of Sutherton Roberts the elder (father of the John Roberts we are searching for will of). He was buried at St. Giles, Camberwell, on Octr. 2nd. 1821, age 74.

If you will look again at the Register of Wills, & of Letters of Administration, we shall be sure, if there is none, that there was some illegality, as he certainly left a considerable property, as his son, John Roberts, never did anything but travel about on an allowance, till his father died. As it is such an uncommon Christian name it must be the same Sutherton Roberts of Kingsland Green, who witnessed the will of my fathers Uncle George Wallace in 1802, [2] and was the executor and Brother-in-law of my Grandfather John Greenell, whose will I have.

I feel certain he must have made a will from what his son's widow used to say. If it cannot be found would there be any use in advertising for the lawyer who made it?

Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
