My dear Lubbock1
On my return from America a few weeks ago I found your beautiful little volume The Pleasures of Life (among many others) for which accept my best thanks. I am unfortunately suffering from weak eyes & can read or write but little, yet an hour which I have given to glancing at your chapters have shown me much with which I can cordially sympathise.
Believe me | Yours faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
