My dear Will
Many thanks for the 2nd part of Sherlock Holmes. I had read the 1st. part, as we still have the Strand, but it is rather unsatisfactory reading in bits. The first part seemed weak, but the 2nd. is better, & the idea seems to be [2] that the other heir to the property frightened the old man to death, & now intends to murder the new heir, & warned him not to go to the country estate, because he knew by his character that that w[oul].d be sure to make him go there [3] where it will be easier to do for him. So there may be the materials for quite a long story.
I am now pretty well again, & am looking out for houses near. Bingo has been to look at some for me. Still very busy. [4] Nothing new.
