Dear Sirs
The specimen of type & page for Spruce's "Notes", seem very suitable.
If the paper is a specimen also, it seems rather heavy. A light book is so much more pleasant to use, that I hope you will consider this point.
As there may be more alterations required than [2] usual in my MSS. and perhaps re-arrangements of matter, — the first proofs must be sent me in "slips", but as short & uniform in length as possible.
