Dear Sir

I received the proofs of illustrations yesterday, & will send them to the printer with the slip-proofs whenever possible.

As to the localities to be inserted in the maps, my intention was, when I received the proofs of maps, with whatever places are known, for on them, — I would send a list of the additional places mentioned by Spruce3 [2] and either describe, or mark on the maps, the position of those places. Not having proofs or MSS in hand yet, I cannot send a list of all his localities, nor would it be of much use, as most of them will be on all the maps. of 40 or 50 years ago, though some are often omitted or the names altered, on more modern maps.

A proof of the map, with the names inserted by hand [3] would perhaps be best for me as I could then insert the others or suggest changes in type to emphasize those most often mentioned by Spruce.

Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

Spruce's drawing seem to come out very well.4
