Oct. 5. [18]75.

Dear Sir

You will kindly excuse my intruding upon your time by my letter but my innermost desire to do all I can for development of truth, I enclose my photos, which, although the worst as regards definition, may be ranked among the best, as undeniable proofs of power, for in no instance a more convincing test could not have been suggested for the genuineness.

Mr Stainton Moses1 (M.A.) spoke of them in "Human Nature"2[2] February last I think, where my letter gives details. Besides my probably having shifted the focus, definition could not be obtained at all, the light being totally against it, so the best photographer stated himself. —

I literally isolated myself from any chance for imposture by after doing all myself from publishing own bought plates) placing a background after the group was arranged in my own room. The appearance of the spirit form (which I saw dozens of times in the cabinet) according to the previous statement of the clairvoyant medium is one of the striking moments in this3[3]

set. I asked Mr. Stainton Moses, to send them to you, but he has probably not done so, and I thought that in case you might consider these, certainly bona fide results, noticeable for mentioning in a next edition of your book,4 the further translation in German would make it rather important for my country, where I have so many friends. If my medium could have remained here, certainly I would have got more beautiful results. Hoping you will kindly accept these specimen among your collection.

I remain, dear sir | yours truly
