In reply to his last of Aug[ust]. 8. I pointed out that the sack trick involved one operation only, loosening the cord of the sack neck, — many ways of doing which are conceivable.

In the Williams case there were two bulky material objects somehow brought into his room, & wh[ich] if impostures must have remained there unless he allowed Williams to carry them away under the very eyes of himself & all his family without any one[sic] seeing it! —
