My dear Wallace,
I was very much disgusted to see such an account in the Daily News of the experiments with Mrs. Abbott.1 I should have written it in a very different way. Some of the things we saw were undoubtedly done my muscular power and skill, and the rest might have been equally simple in their explanation. I was much interested in the performance but came away with the feeling that any mediumistic powers were concerned. The lifting was very curious, but I see how it might be effected.
I was sorry to have missed you at the meeting and subsequent dinner last week. I hope you will soon be up again. I seldom miss a S.P.R.2 meeting.
With kind regards, Believe me | William Crookes [signature]
