Nov[ember]. 26 1891

Dear Sir.

Ms. Besant4 has gone to America for three weeks, having been ordered a short rest by her Doctor. I will give her your letter on her return.

I would suggest that Ms. Besant has investigated very closely the tenets of Theosophy before joining the Society, & no speculations of any recent date, no matter how erudite, could bring the same weight & argument as Theosophy brings. to bear[?] on the evolution past & future of man. We have evidences scientific, religious, & philosophical as the base of the Truths we hold. History as old as man, older than many would count man. How can you prove that "various old teachers were absolutely ignorant of that exact knowledge of nature laboriously attained [2] by modern research." In many ways modern thought is turning back to ancient ideas.

Geology, for instance, is finding that the age of the world is coming very near the date by the old vedas[?]. Unless you have given very careful study to Theosophy you can hardly judge the source, whence it gathers its data. Ms. Besant has, after much thought, found sufficient evidence to induce her to induce her to change her whole life. She will I am sure be glad to see you when she is lecturing near Parkstone; you could then discuss th evidence with her. She will lecture at Pooh[?] on Dec[ember]. 21.st I think.

Faithfully yours5 | Isabel Cooper-Oakley [signature]
