Dear Mr. Wallace,

In my forthcoming series of books on organic evolution I am going to have steel-plate portraits of Darwin1 and Weismann.2 It is needless to say I should like also to have yours. In the event of your giving me permission, I think [2] it would be desirable not merely to copy the portrait from your "Darwinism,"3 But if you have another [illeg.] photo. and would send it to me, I would place it in the artist's hand forthwith.
