Dr A R Wallace OM. F.R.S.

Honoured & Revered Sir

Our International Congress is near at hand & I write to you to ask the favor of a message of greeting to read to opening meeting from you to our confiéres. I may say that each of us, would have esteemed it a proud distinction to have had your presence but consideration for the effects of the flight of time made us regretfully submit to the repose & quietitude due to the declining days of one who spared himself not when in the prime & vigour of his life[.]

[2] Nothing I can say, can adequately convey the pleasure you will give by acceding to my request.

I enclose a copy of our Annual Report, & the program of the Congress and beg to subscribe myself, one thankful for many lessons I have learnt from you.

Sincerely yours | Hanson G. Hey1[signature]
