Dear Wallace

Answ[erin]g yours of yest[erda]y I will ask Hudson [2 words illeg.]

In reply to y[ou]r query The two Pictures with Katie were taken immed[iatel]y one after the other. It was noticed that the photo had a good many pinholes, wh[ic]h H. attributed to the Bash lung view — and another trial was made as fast as a plate could be sensitized.

Mrs G. had not only no arrangement for a sitting — but a circumstance had taken place — at Breakfast she said she would go to Hudson for a Sp. Ph. —- but that she would have her own way in arranging —I said — very well — shall I go to H. & tell him you will come & fix an hour? She replied No — if you do I won't go — I don't want to take away any [illeg.] that may come to him. Hudson could not have the slightest Idea

[2] She did not see the figure ————-

I was close behind her — separated by the black Alpaca Screen — through which by her instructions I never lost sight of her — looking down on the [illeg.] of her hair[?]. — The figure was between us — I saw nothing of it. There is no doubt (in my mind) that [illeg.] that say was[?] acting under impulse from Katie, —

No sham Photos had been dreamt of at that time — for only a Mrs G had sat & she always got real ones — and there was no need for sham ones. People that have real Bank Notes don't go to pass forged ones. It was because pastors could not get real Sp. Ph. that shams were invented.

I dont[sic] know ab[ou]t the [illeg.] treat[?].

Yours truly | Sam Guppy [signature]
