My Dear Mr Wallace

Mr Guppy did neglect to tell me you had talked and I was greatly astonished knowing how much he esteemed you not only for your goodness to me when I wanted A Friend but for your other distinguished qualitys[sic] and I likewise missed seing[sic] your excellent wife who treated me so kindly but I badgered the poor man so for his neglect and there was A number of things troubling him that I quite forgave him and I am sure you will never think of it again. I wish dear Mr Wallace I could be with you and Dear Mrs Wallace and my old Friend Mrs Sims give my Love to her and [2] Love to Mrs Wallace and Children

If you knew the [illeg.] heaped upon my Head for that unfortunate forgetfulness — by Miss Nicholl1 [illeg.] is [illeg.] Miss N. to you[?] — you would not torture me by reproaches which go through me like a pin through an unfortunate Butterfly's body when you do him the honor to make a Specimen of him.

I see the Dialectic are sticking where several [2 words illeg.] in America stuck on their studies of Spiritualism.

Can't get manifestations — The Spirit is something like a Child — [illeg.] go into a Nursery & you find a Child rotting away never stopping — Take that Child out & put it in presence of 10 grave men — it is mute & is dumb — you cant get a word out of it — It is case of [3] conditions—

I hope the [illeg.] of the Evidences — Communication — [illeg.] &c &c &c of the Dialectical will be published afterwards in a special Volume. I will[?] [illeg.] (plan[?] for me) for go once.
