Dear Sir

I know nothing of the French & German Literature of Natural Selection[.] All my books except "Island Life" have been translated into German, & some of them into French. All Darwin’s works have I believe been translated into those & many other languages. Haeckel’s1 works of course you know.

Yours Faithfully | Alfred R Wallace [signature]

C. E. Ferguson Esq.

Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) was a German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor and artist who promoted Darwin’s work in Germany.
