Dear Sir

I send you herewith all the papers of Spruce³ relating to Meteorology and Anthropology.

The top and bottom books, contain the vocabularies, and the Introductory Essay. These the late Dr Latham⁴ examined, & he thought the latter was so interesting that it would be accepted as a Review article.

If it seems to be so now [2] perhaps the Society would have it edited and printed with the Vocabularies – as, from Spruce’s great care & thoroughness in all his work, there may be depended on as being carefully collected and all spelled in strict accordance with the orthography he has adopted.

I have not even had time to read any part of these, having ^had more materials than required for the books without them. I think they [3] should be submitted to an expert, such as Mr. Keane⁵ and if possible, published, if only to show that my friend did other ^good work than Botanical collecting ^{and descriptions &c...}
