My dear Sir1
I feel sure you will excuse me, for troubling you with the request to procure for me the papers by Mr. Wallace selective to Sarawak and Sadong which was read at a meeting of our Society and afterwards printed in an abbreviated form for abstraction.2 In this brief form or more fully it was probably printed in the Transactions. I should be much obliged if you can furnish me with this paper by Wallace in its full or abbreviated form [2] as may be and when well enough I should like to consult the original manuscript which may contain matter valuable to me though not valuable to the public —
I am sorry to trouble you but you will pardon it— I am better but there is the writing on the wall—
Will you remember me kindly to Sir Roderick3 &
Believe me | very truly yours | J Brooke4 [signature]
Dr Norton Shaw.
P.S. When is Mr Wallace coming home?—
[3]Wallace’s MS on The Sadong was published in full in Vol. 1. No 6— p — 193 of the proceedings.
