Letter (WCP3587.3486)

[1]

14 Hattersley Grove,

Bayswater.

[London W.]

Juin 1 [sic]1

My Lord,2

If the Society of which y[ou]r lordship is President3 would offer a [1 word illeg.] or prize medal [2] to anyone who could discover the shape of the World, and it not be as advantageous to the nation as many of the explorations about which such a fuss is [3] being made? With income of nearly £9,000, such gross ignorance is somewhat discreditable.

Yours respectfully | John Hampden [signature]
