With reference to your Letter of the 5 Instant, I am directed by the Earl of Clarendon2 to state to you that Mr. Wallace should apply to the Admiralty, when he is ready to proceed on his Scientific Expedition to the Eastern Seas, in order that he may be informed whether an opportunity then exists for a Passage in one of Her Majesty’s Ships to Singapore, as the vessels now preparing for the East Indies will have sailed3 [2] before November next.
