11th May, 1915.

Dear Forbes,

I have a letter from the son of the late Alfred Russel Wallace stating that they are collecting material for a volume of letters and reminiscences of his father which will be written by the Rev. James Marchant.

He asks me what position his father's geographical work in the Amazon Valley and the Eastern Archipelago now holds.

I think probably you know better that anyone what position Wallace's work in the Eastern Archipelago holds, and I should be very glad if you would inform me, or if you would care to write direct to W. G. Wallace, Tulgey Wood, Broadstone, Dorset.

He says he would like to know also whether all the places explored by his father have been visited by later scientific explorers.

Yours very truly,

[unsigned]
