31st May, 1915.

Dear Sir,

In further reply to your letter of the 6th May:

I send you a statement which has been drawn up by our librarian on further exploration in the region of Rio Negro which has been carried out since your father's time. Something in addition has been done as you will see, but I am assured by authorities on the region that your father's work still holds good.

I hope that the enclosed statement will be of service to Mr. Marchant who is writing your father's biography.

Dr. H. S. Forbes [,] who is an authority on the Malay Archipelago, will I hope return to you directly with reference to your father's work in that part of the world. I have not had time to look up any correspondence which we may have had with your father, but shall do so as soon as possible, and if there is anything likely to be of use will let you have it.

Yours very truly,

W. G. Wallace, Esq.
