My sister has to dispose of a large armchair which formerly belonged to our father, the late Dr Alfred Russel Wallace, and was for many years constantly used by him. If your society would care to accept it for the use of members my sister will be very glad to present it.

In the top left of page one of the manuscript, a rectangular stamp has the printed text "R. G. S." and below that, "5 AUG[UST] 1931". Additionally, handwritten within this stamp, the text reads "Aug[ust] 3rd 1931" and below that "The Hone Secretary, R.G.S.". And finally, below the address in the top right of page of of the manuscript, the text reads, in red ink: "Ack[nowledged]. [1 word illeg.] [signature]".
