Dear Sir

Thank you for your letter. I am delighted to hear your Society will give a home to my Father's Chair, and my brother & I are very pleased to send it to you —

I think, if you could arrange to have it met at Victoria [2] station, the best way would be to send it by passenger train, then it would require the minimum of packing — The two best trains are 10.7 & 11.53 arriving at Victoria 10.47 & 12.34 — I could arrange to send it one day next week if you like to name a day & the train — I think it would go on the top of a taxi, but [it] would need a cover if this weather continues —

Your name is strangely familiar to me — Did you ever live in Croydon & go to Madame Michaelis's school? I was a student there & knew a Winnie & Roger & I think an older brother Arthur.

Yours very truly | Victoria Isabel Wallace [signature]

Arthur Hinks Esq.

In the top left corner of page one of the manuscript, a rectangular stamp reads "R.G.S." and below that, "17 AUG[UST] 1931".
