[1]

Frith Hill, Godalming

July 11th. 1886

Dear Miss Massey

I send you the copy of "the Earth for All". It was printed in "the Radical" newspaper and also in the Annual Report (2 or 3 years ago) of our Society, & I thought your father had received a copy of the latter.

Please tell him how much I admire & sympathise with his Election Songs, & how sorry I am they seem to have had so little effect. But [2] there is no doubt the question has been brought forward too tho recently for people to be reconciled to such a radical measure as Gladstones1, though its having been brought forward will make some such measure (I hope even a better one) inevitable before long.

Believe me | Yours faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

William Ewart Gladstone (1809 — 1898), British Liberal statesman.
