Lt. Col. Prain, F.R.S. Director of Kew Gardens.

Dear Sir2,

Please excuse delay in thanking you for the very nice and interesting lot of plants you have sent me for my new bog and Alpine garden. The two N[ew] Zealand Ourisias, the rare Primulas, the Jaukea, and the curious Heliopsis Japonica are especially acceptable to me because they are not to be had elsewhere. Thanks also for Bees’ Catalogue. I have dealt with them for several [2] years for miscellaneous plants, but they did not send me their new Herbaceous & Alpine List till a few days before I received your very welcome Hamper. I return the empty hamper to day ; and as you say you did not raise any of the Telopea truncata, I send you by Parcel Post 2 plants, the best I have not planted out.

Again thanking you, | Believe me | Yours very truly | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
