Dear Newton2
I send you the accompanying scrawl, because I do not want the trouble of copying it out if it is too long for you. If it will do send me a proof to correct. In the Report of B. Ass. for 1867, is an abstract giving the essence of the paper in six lines'.3 I do not think I can manage any thing between the two, but as the original paper has not been much read, perhaps you will not object to giving a rather fuller abstract than you [2]4 might otherwise do.
I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you next Wednesday at MacMillan’s.
Believe me | yours very faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
