Waldron Edge

Friday morning

Dear Annie

I am glad to hear that your face is better & that Willie2 is well. Sir David Wedderburn3 is coming to dinner on Sunday. He wrote to ask if he might come on Sunday as he wants to have some conversation with me about Java — so I gave him his choice for morning or afternoon train[.] He has chosen the morning.

So you can come or not just as you like. Ellen will get us dinner very well. She has got a black [2] kitten for you.

I have had to wear my Ulster several days it has been so wintry. Not one warm day yet. On Saturday I and Violet4 started at 10 & did not get home till 4 going to Selsdon, Hamsey Green & Riddlesdown. Millions of primroses but no cowslips & only one orchis!

I will write to Miss Buckley5 & tell her she can come any day after Monday.

I remain | Your ever affectionate | Alfred [signature]
