My dear Mr Cockerell

Many thanks for your two last letters & their valuable enclosures. The Ext[rac]t on Red Clay of Bermuda is all I want, — also about I[sle] of Man Lepidoptera & Celebes birds. Of Borneo Birds I only want list of the peculiar ‘species’.

I have not done anything to Island Life for the last few days as I am writing a review of Morgan’s book & discussing some controverted[sic] point. Your slug paper is interesting, — & will be [2] useful for "Darwinism". —

The extract about B. Shaw is excellent & made us laugh.

With many many thanks for all the trouble you are taking

Believe me | Yours very truly | Alfred R Wallace [signature]

O.S. Of course I should greatly value Seebohms1[sic] book on Japanese Birds.

A.R.W.

Refers to Henry Seebohm (1832-1895) an English steel manufacturer and amateur ornithologist.
