Waldron Edge, Duppas Hill, Croydon.

Novr.. 18th. 1879

My dear Mr. Meldola

Thanks for your kindness in sending me information which is of course very interesting to me now. There are somewhat fewer applications than I expected. I am glad to say I have interest in the quarter you name, but I understand the Committee are very jealous [2] of interference, so please do not let it be known.

Any thing further Mr. Barnes may hear as to the quality of the candidates or as to the names of the sub-committee to whom they are referred for reporting on will be very interesting to me, and I shall be greatly obliged by your keeping me posted.

Believe me| Yours very faithfully| Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

R Meldola Esq.
