Parkstone, Dorset.

My dear Meldola

I send you my set of slides (42 in all) — With them in 3 Envelopes are diagrams giving the names of the species [letter crossed out] I think in all cases. Two or three of the slides got smashed in America. They were originally arranged in the two boxes — one for a lecture on general protective colouration, the other for Warning colours & Mimicry. They are now I think mixed up & I gave a general lecture here some [2] years back.

Some of the slides do not fit well in the grooves the glass being too thick, but you will be able to use one box for all the slides you will want for your lecture. No doubt Poulton has much better ones now.

Yours very truly| Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

P.S. I send them by rail carriage unpaid, as you undertake all expenses.
