My dear Meldola

Many thanks for the list of "Products" you have been so good as to send me. It is exactly what I wanted, and will I am sure be quite new & very interesting to a large number of readers.

I quite agree that, in principle, all productions of real use, which can be made without using land, are good. It is only under our present competitive [2] and individualistic system that they sometimes produce evil results. Under a rational system of society, all discovery will be beneficial to all, or if not so, will be so treated as to be hurtful to none. Now, the opposite result is often produced, — but that is not the fault of the discovery or of the discoverers.

Slides arrived safely,

Yours very truly| Alfred R. Wallace [signature]

Prof. R. Meldola
