Broadstone, Dorset.

April 24th. 1903

My dear Meldola

Your beautiful present arrived today. It is the one thing I rather felt the want of by the side of my desk, but I did not know they were made so small and compact. I have got it standing on a small table by the side of my desk, & it will hold all the chief books I shall want to refer to while writing, so you could not have sent me anything more useful.

As I suppose it is a present both from yourself and Mrs. Meldola [2] pray accept my best thanks for your kind consideration. My wife & daughter both think it quite ornamental as well as useful, as it is so beautifully finished.

With best wishes
