Dear Professor Poulton
Many thanks for your letter. The way you propose of dealing with my comments is a very kind and fair one & I shall be quite content with the committee[‘]s judgement.
I overlooked the question of the photo[.] I had kept the proof so long I was in haste to despatch it. I now enclose a photo of my father for your consideration. It was taken [2] at Parkstone before old age left its marks upon him. It is an excellent and characteristic likeness. Do you not think it more suitable for your purpose than one taken when he had lost his alertness and vivacity?
Please return it as I have no other copy.
With kind regards,| Y[ou]rs sincerely,| W. G. Wallace [signature]
