Rosehill, Dorking
Dec[embe]r 19th. 1876
Dear Sir
I have consulted Messrs Macmillan in reference to the use of the large map & the illustrations of my book on the Geog[raphic] Dist[ribution] of Animals, for teaching purposes, either as diagrams or magic-lanthern[sic] slides, by the Science and Art Department; and we are quite willing they should be so used, only stipulating that the work from which they are taken should be fully acknowledged, and either mentioned by the [2] lecturers or referred to in the Programme, or by [one word illegible] of lectures, so as to give some publicity to the work.
I remain | Yours very Faithfully | Alfred R. Wallace [signature]
