Dear Janet

Thank you for your note. I have written Mr Steel 18, 19, or 20 will suit you & me? if he can get his Valparaiso friends it will be very nice of him. I find Miss Sulivan1 is connected with the Pakenhams2 in Chili & says they are charming & will give me a warm welcome. [2] So the plot thickens & all will go well I trust. Lady Brassey3 will write to Madame Cousins — & get other help for me — & my American friend has given me a heap of good Mexican letters — I had such a party on Monday — Wallace4 came up from Godalming, & told me much I wanted to know. he is the most charming man I know now — inspite [sic] of his nice little [3] sperrit-rapping wife.

Give my love to Mrs Bower.

Every yours affectionately | Pop [signature]
