Broadstone, Wimborne.

Sept[embe]r. 23rd. 1904

Dear Mrs Girdlestone

Many thanks for your kindness in getting the "Battle" mounted for me. It arrived quite safe & I will now get it framed. Also for the photo., which when viewed through a magnifying glass comes out very well. I enclose the stamps on the picture, & should be glad to pay for the mounting if, as I understand, you got any one to do it.

I have written to "The Clarion" in reply to Nunquam’s1 last very warlike article, but I rather [2] think that you do not see that paper. If you do, I wish Mr. G[irdlestone].2 would back me up. Mr Begbie’s interview,3 though very cleverly written, was much too flowery and buttery for my taste, and although the opinions put into my mouth were quite correct they were in my written not my spoken language.

Yours very sincerely| Alfred R. Wallace. [signature]
