O hee again I desire to congratulate you on your Birthday — this time your ninetieth & sincerely wish you many Happy returns of the day & so glad to find you are so vigorous & so full of enthusiasm in so many good causes.

If you remember I thanked you [2] for the delight I had received in reading your "Amazon"1 & you advised me to read the Malay Archipelago",2 this I have done with much profit & pleasure, but the "Amazon" holds first place & I am now going through it for the fifth time & your portrait from "Daily News & Leader"3 is now added & my children are so delighted as their [3] Dad in its perusal.
