J. J. Neale Esq.
Dear Sir
We have now decided to come to Castell Coch on Monday next reaching Cardiff at 1.0 pm. and Hirwaun at 3.32 as per your letter.
Will you be so good, if this day does not interfere with any plans of your own, to arrange for a carriage at Hirwaun to take us to Castle-Coch, and also to have some one in the house to "do for use", and to have bread, milk, and eggs in the house. We shall bring [2] with us cooked provisions sufficient to last us most of the time of our stay which will not exceed a week or ten days at most.
We shall require 3 bedrooms as I am rather an invalid. Should the weather continue quite fine and it be otherwise convenient for your son or yourself to be there on the Monday with the motor car, we should be glad to accept your kind offer to take us up from Hirwaun, — otherwise a horse-vehicle will be quite as [3] well.
There are two excursions I should like to go while at Castle Coch. One is to the Merthyr & Byron road at the foot of the Beacons near Pont-ar-daf — the other to the waterfall at Capel Coelbren — but I do not know whether the cross-roads to either of these places are practicable for a motor, though I presume they are for a light chaise.
I should also like to spend a day at the waterfalls near Pont-Nedd, Fychan. All the rest can be done on foot.
